MIDPOINT REFLECTION

My organization calls The Brooklyn Children's museum and the place where I'm interning is PR Department. People who are working there are responsible for planing events, parties and other things that happen in the Museum. Public Relations Department is like a big office where everybody works on computers, there you have to communicate with other organizations such as magazines, newspapers, other museums, etc. This department is very important part of the museum because it gives all the schedules, information, things like brochures or calendars to other workers and visitors. Something that I expected from my internship was that I will communicate more with people and work on planing the events. But my actual job in there is to work on a commuter. I expect myself to be more active and work not only on one place. I think that some of the skills that I've learned in there are writing skills. Because my job is to read and to find the information and put it all together. Me and my mentor we see each other are only in the beginning and in the end of the working day. Even though she sits kind of close to me she is very busy with her work, so usually she just tell as what we have to do. But the co- workers are working with me. Me and  two other interns are working together and have fun. I think I've become more professional in working with websites and other media information like newspapers and magazines. By finding the right information  I've learned how to make Press Clippings and , how to paste the event form the website. Working everyday in this department and seeing job of other office workers gave me such skills like multiply and interact with people. I think that sop far I didn't face any challenges. The internship schedule was kind of  not expectable  transition for me. Because now I'm getting home late and I still have to do my homework, but I always trying to get it done as soon as I can.In these fife weeks that are left I hope to interact more with people who are working at my internship, to have more active job and to gain experience about managing. I think that since my internship is on Kingston Ave I've learned about that area and what kind of neighborhood lives there.

On my internship people have to communicate with each other a lot. And use media too.

  5. Polina,

It sounds like you are a professional at the site and doing great work there. I remember the day after you interviewed and you speaking of your fear of being able to handle the workload. But reading your response makes me believe you are succeeding in the PR dept. and handling the challenges of a busy job.

It sounds like you do not like to work in a sedentary place, but rather prefer being up and moving around. How does the work you do with the museum compare to the work you are doing at G.A.P.?
